The Professor and the Madman (2019). Metaphysical Review

Professor and the Madman (2019)

Metaphysical review Jacklyn A. Lo for the historical film The Professor and the Madman (2019).

Negative Karma

The metaphysical core of this sophisticated film is the negative karma that hit one of the main characters of the story.

The protagonist, Dr. William Chester Minor, caused suffering and pain to a stranger (a solder Declan Reilly). This happened during the American Civil War when William was on duty as a surgeon and captain.

No Peace

Sometime later, William began to hallucinate - Declan Reilly not only pursues him but also attacks him, threatening his life. To avoid danger, William leaves the US and seeks asylum in England. However, even in a new country, he fails to find peace.

Murder

One night, William wakes up and realizes that Declan Reilly has been at his house. Grabbing his revolver, he immediately begins to pursue the man. At a certain point in time, William catches up with the man and kills him. However, as it turns out that was the wrong man. That murdered man, a father of several children, didn't have anything to do with Declan Reilly.

Consciousness

Someone might object - there shouldn't be any negative karma involved as William did professional duties in wartime as anyone else would do. This conclusion is based on pure Western logic without consideration of the man's level of consciousness. However, from our Highest Brother's point of view, the punishment ( if any) must be given in accordance with the human's maturity of his soul, i.e. level of consciousness.

Incarnations

For example, very young souls with multiple incarnations in a human body could earn positive karma for faithfully following military orders (which William followed). However, the higher the consciousness, the greater the responsibility. Some religions, such as Buddhism, do not accept harm to any creature, even an insect, let alone a person.

Energetic level of Soul

Therefore, let's look at the captain and surgeon William in terms of the energy quantity and quality of his soul

In 1872 ( the year of William's imprisonment) only 1 person out of 5 could read and write, but William was not only literate, he got a much higher education with a deep knowledge of human anatomy and he worked as a surgeon. Also, as a great contributor to the Oxford Dictionary, he has a much higher intellectual level than an average man as well as very good organizational skills.

All the factors above are clear signs that the energetic level of his soul is much above average.

Spiritual Direction

Some might argue that highly intelligent villains hang around us without any punishment for their deeds.
And again, for a correct understanding, we need to look into the spiritual core of a person, or rather, in what Spiritual Direction¹ he moves.

Spiritual Choice

We must remember that Karmic lessons only work for spiritual beings moving toward the Light. Mature spiritual entities who have constantly made their Spiritual Choice toward Darkness no longer have the opportunity to correct their mistakes, as they "operate" under the complete control of Satan, the Head of Darkness.

Again, someone can object - but there is a third party involved in this case, and even one of them (the husband of Eliza Merrett) dies at the hand of William.

Sacrifice

That's true, our Highest Brothers put a lot of effort into giving a chance to correct mistakes for one individual soul.

And thanks to that, we observe constant spiritual progress in William, not only through his philanthropic help in making the Oxford Dictionary but especially via his voluntary sacrifice in favor of Eliza Merrett, the widow of the man whom he killed.

And of course, this progress would not have been possible if William had resisted this karmic lesson.

Similar Movie

This film is similar to the film The Machinist ( 2004), where negative karma teaches a protagonist to work on mistakes already in his current life.

Conclusion

The Professor and the Madman (2019) directed by Farhad Safinia  and written by Todd Komarnicki, Simon Winchester, and Farhad Safini is a highly spiritual biopic recommended to anyone interested in the work of karmic lessons

Braveheart (1995): A Metaphysical Dive into Freedom

Braveheart ( 1995)

Metaphysical review of Braveheart (1995) by Jacklyn A. Lo

Based on historical events, Mel Gibson's Braveheart (1995)  is a remarkable film that explores Spiritual Choice toward Light and its central value - Freedom.

Freedom

While some of us are fortunate to inherit freedom as a birthright, many must fight for it. William Wallace was among those who, though born into subjugation, chose the path of Freedom.

Wallace lived in the 13th-14th centuries in Scotland, a land oppressed by the tyrannical English King Edward I. Despite losing his entire family to English invaders, Wallace harbored no hatred in his heart, choosing instead the path of Light over Darkness.

Love, Peace, and Justice

Even when the father of William's beloved Murron, urged him to join the rebellion, Wallace hesitated, advocating for a peaceful existence. (Love and Peace - Value of Lights).

His ideals, however, were challenged when English soldiers attempted to rape Murron, imprisoned her, and later publicly executed her. At this point, Wallace could no longer remain indifferent; Justice, another Value of Light, had to be served.

Thus, Wallace emerged as the leader of his clan, rallying them against English rule.

Courage

Drawn to Wallace’s indomitable Courage—a central Value of Light—hundreds of Scots from neighboring clans joined his uprising.

However, the Scottish nobles, corrupted by wealth and power, chose servitude ( Slavery - Value of Darks) over freedom and betrayed Wallace, aligning themselves with the darker values.

Wallace is brought to London, tried for high treason, and condemned to public torture and beheading.

Spiritual Test

Like all of us in physical reality, he is supposed to go through the Spiritual Choice, which in William's case, was also a Spiritual Test.

Like all human beings confined to physical reality, Wallace faced a Spiritual Choice, which in his case, also functioned as a Spiritual Test.

Isabella of France, enamored by Wallace, pleaded with him to beg for the king's mercy. He declined. She then offered him a magical potion to alleviate his impending suffering, which he also refused.

When given one last opportunity to plead for mercy, Wallace instead roared, "Freedom!" Even after being subjected to torturous execution, he remained steadfast.

Commitment To The Light

Freedom for Wallace was not just a word; it held profound significance. While we may never understand why he was subjected to such a severe spiritual test, his actions stand as a testament to his unwavering commitment to the Light.

Concluding Thoughts

Without freedom, love and hope become meaningless, and we forfeit our ability to create, to become Creators.

Braveheart is a must-see film for anyone captivated by tales that inspire and provoke deep spiritual reflection.

Father Stu ( 2022). Spiritual Movie Review

Illustration to the film "Father Stu" (2022)

Spiritual review by Jacklyn A. Lo of the film "Father Stu" (2022).

Faith in God

Father Stu (2022) is one of the best biopic films about the hard path of a man to Faith in God.

Stuart ( Stu in short) is a professional boxer with a father who is a drunkard living for his own pleasure and a loving mother, without a spiritual spark

Change

His life destiny brings him to a change - leaving boxing. He tries to become an actor but to no avail. In the meanwhile, he meets a Mexican girl who is Catholic.

To move on to a relationship with a girl, he is baptized.

Despite this new life curve, he continues to solve problems in the same way as before - with his fists. Even in confession, Stuart's speech is full of profanity.

However, our Higher Brothers see that Stuart has a good potential for Spiritual growth. For this reason, they decided to create a problem in Stuart's life.

Predictions

Before that, to attract attention, a messenger is sent to him.

We do not know the details of whether this is a real person or a talking hologram, but he predicts to Stu the further development of events in his personal life. The stranger also warns Stuart not to drive that night. However, Stu ignores the weird guy's warning and gets behind the wheel.

Holy Virgin

A series of strange coincidences on an almost empty road leads Stuart into a serious traffic accident. Again, our Higher Brothers are using their valuable resources to send Stu a message via the image of the Holy Virgin. The short conversation with the mother of Jesus should encourage Stu to move on with his life script no matter what.

In addition, the supernatural events help shape Stuart's Faith in God and his deeds.

Challenges

Coming out of a deep coma, Stu decides to become a Catholic priest. (The courage2 and adventurism of this guy, using every opportunity, is stunning).

But on the way to his further life goal, Stu faces a new obstacle - his physical health is threatened by a terminal illness. His flippant mother recommends that he spend the rest of his life in pleasure, but Stu has the guts to refuse this worthless idea. This challenge works for him as a Spiritual Choice toward Light.

A Choice toward Light always requires inner Spiritual Strength. The reward for this is improved consciousness.

Goal

He prefers to continue following his goal - to become a priest. During this troublesome journey, Stu constantly improves his consciousness. Besides other spiritual revelations, this enables him to understand not only the purpose of suffering but also its value.

Conclusion

"Father Stu" (2022)   written and directed by Rosalind Ross is a great Faith-based movie to watch and recommended for any Spiritual Seeker.

Why reincarnate?

While the East, such as India, believes in n reincarnationthe Western world is still oriented towards the concept of one life.
But what if we shall assume that reincarnation exists? What good is this for us?

We are all under the Universal Law of Evolution. That law pushes us to evolute not only by our physical bodies but also by spiritually.

And the chain of lives helps our spiritual beings to slowly but steadily evolute and grow.
But what should we work on to evolve?

There are four main goals to brings us back to physical reality:

1. To increase our Energetic potential

2. To define our Spiritual orientation

3. To gain some Individual skills and qualities, i.e. Individuality

4. To pay for the collected Karma, that is, work on the bugs.

Energetic potential

You won't be able to survive in the Thin world without a proper energetic potential. You have to earn energy enough to survive by yourself and also be capable honestly of paying into a shared pool.

How to gain a higher Energetic potential?

A. Doing any work. Any work will increase your energy potential whether it's physical, intellectual or spiritual
B. Defining and reaching a Goal will bring you an upgrade your energy potential

Check the Spiritual Movies with Goal and Energy

Spiritual orientation

One of the trickiest reasons for our incarnations is to define our spiritual orientation.
They are two main spiritual directions - to Light and Darkness and one sub direction - degradation.

How to define a Spiritual orientation?

A: Observation of your values
B: Choosing a spiritual direction
C. Making a Spiritual Choice based on your conclusions ( above), analysis of your situation, intuition

Individuality
To be Individual is one of the biggest challenges for any of human. It's much easier to follow a crowd and doing copy-paste movement than to develop your ideas and to be an independent thinker.

How to gain Individuality?

The first step towards Individuality is to ask yourself "Who am I?"

Karma

Karma is needed to gain an understanding that doing wrong for someone else would bring you personal suffering.

Just like in school, work on mistakes is raising a level of the knowledge and grades, so in life, we have to work on life situations to understand what is right and what is wrong and as a reward to achieve an upgrade of our consciousness.

How to avoid Karma?

Before any action, ask yourself if you want to be treated the same way you relate to another.

White Palace (1990). Spiritual Movie Review - Jacklyn A. Lo

White Palace (1990)

White Palace (1990) is a highly entertaining and thought-provoking movie.

A key-phrase in this film is life's purpose.

mature soul

Max is a mature soul. He takes care of his mom, working hard, neat and well organised. Above all, he admires classical music and plays the piano.

He feels that his purpose is to become a teacher, but he doesn't have trust in himself to go for it.

Instead of teaching, he has a prestige job, which allows him to have a gorgeous apartment and a higher-class society's lifestyle.

opportunity for a change

But his life-scenario* provides him with an opportunity for a change.

Hot Nora makes Max's life more diverse by activating his root and sacral chakras.
Max feels a responsibility for the relationship ( a feature of the mature soul) and tries to fix their social gap, but he is not able to see a problem in himself yet.

Nora faces challenges too. She supposed to become tidy, which was always a problem for her ( a feature of a younger soul). Besides making her apartment clean, she also learns ( education is a positive feature of any developing soul) a piece of new cleaning equipment.

Nora is not only an attractive woman, but she also has COURAGE, which allows her not only to defend herself in the surrounding of Max's friends but also express her own opinion about the world.

Nora sees Max's embarrassment for the relationship with her. Therefore she makes a firm decision to break with Max. So, she quits her job and leaves the city.

spiritual choice

Max gets time to think. This is a significant moment in his life - his Spiritual Choice.

Encouraging by his friends, he evaluates upper society and younger than Nora women.

However, starting a new dating looks pretty heavy "project" for him. He doesn't know for sure if a young and educated lady could provide him with the same energetic balance as "having everything that he needs" Nora.

values

Furthermore struggling along, Max compares things. He doesn't see any more values in his up class surrounding.

life's purpose

Using inner feelings, Max drops the established well being and clarifies his life's purpose.

Therefore, Max makes a robust mental statement - a relationship with Nora was given to him as a chance to become a teacher.

Although the decision was difficult and risky, this is his Spiritual Choice towards Light.

Does rebirth really happen?

The question "Does rebirth really happen?" again dedicated to reincarnation. And I would like to share with you my favorite answer by Bhavana Vashisht. with a few comments of my own.

Short answer: Yes, rebirth does happen and as humans, it is very important for us to know about it and learn to get out of it.

Long answer: Most of the major details (about the soul, proofs of soul, the science behind rebirth, way to get out of the rebirth cycle, etc.) have been provided below. Read till the end to get the most out of this answer.

The most reliable and authentic source to gain knowledge about reincarnation or rebirth is Bhagavad Gita. It gives a clear, logical explanation of the science of reincarnation. Lord Krishna spoke Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna on a battlefield – which is a suitable place to discuss reincarnation as people confront death face to face in combats and common questions about life and the afterlife may arise. Before jumping into the fascinating details of reincarnation, it is important to understand the eternal part of every living being, i.e., the soul.

Soul – the Eternal Living Part

Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita (chapter 2) says, “That which pervades the entire body you should know to be indestructible. No one is able to destroy that imperishable soul… The soul is unbreakable and incombustible; it can neither be dampened nor dried. It is everlasting, in all places, unalterable, immutable, and primordial… Some look on the soul as amazing, some describe him as amazing, and some hear of him as amazing, while others, even after hearing about him, cannot understand him at all.”

Proofs of the Presence of the Soul

Bhagavad Gita says that the soul is immortal and is never destroyed. As the sun alone illuminates all this universe, so does the soul within the body illuminate the entire body by consciousness. Without this consciousness, the body is nothing but a lump of dead matter. It is said that the soul is the driver of the body. When it leaves the body, all its functions stop, and it becomes useless within a fraction of a second. This can be observed when someone dies.

Also, as we can see with time, from childhood to adulthood, the body keeps changing, but something remains the same. The distinction between the conscious self (soul) and the body becomes more visible when we grow older. If we think more deeply about this, this can act as another proof of the presence of a living soul within us.

Many scientists, researchers, and famous people have complete faith in the presence of the soul. As there are a lot of proofs and references but less space to write so this portion will be covered in another answer.

Core Principles behind Reincarnation

Bhagavad Gita says that souls cannot be slain even if the body is slain. But if this is the case, then what exactly happens to the soul? Lord Krishna beautifully explains, "The soul is neither born, nor does it ever die, nor having once existed, does it ever cease to be. The soul is without birth, eternal, immortal, and ageless. It is not destroyed when the body is destroyed… Just as the embodied soul continuously passes from childhood to youth to old age, similarly, at the time of death, the soul passes into another body. The wise are not deluded by this… As a person sheds worn-out garments and wears new ones, likewise, at the time of death, the soul casts off its worn-out body and enters a new one." These are very important lines that form the basic principles behind reincarnation. So, we can say that reincarnation is the transmigration of the soul from one body to another.

This is a great answer, however, a couple of important notes.

Note 1

Not only the physical body of a human is constantly changing, but also the sense of consciousness or the quality of a soul.

The quality of the soul fully depends on the energetic spectrum of the soul as well as the quantity of these energies.

This follows from the Universal Laws of Change and Evolution.

The quality of soul energies can even change to the opposite when a person makes such a Spiritual Choice, which changes the former Spiritual Direction* to the opposite.

For example, a person who follows the Values of Light makes a Spiritual Choice towards Darkness.

Therefore, we can call the Spiritual Choice also a Spiritual Trial.

GENEROSITY

FRATERNITY

A good example of how a highly Spiritual person had transformed into a vampire could be found in the movie "Bram Stoker's Dracula" by Francis Ford Coppola.  Please find details in my review of the movie.

Note 2

According to the newest information, a soul can be destroyed

However, this can be done only by the decision of the Supreme Creation, i.e. Creator of this soul.

This severe punishment is applied to parasitic people who do not want to give anything to others, but simply consume the resources of society or family and do this for four human lives in a row.

Other souls who do not deserve further existence are unnecessarily cruel souls . They also get a number of chances to improve themselves. If these chances are ignored for several lifetimes, the souls receive the death penalty.

During the procedure all soul's energies are cleared from their matrix and the personality leaves existence. This procedure is extremely painful.

Note 3

In my feature screenplay The Return of Melissa the protagonist is a scientist who didn't understand the spiritual matters regarding a soul, although he believed in God, and even competed with him.

With his ignorance regarding soul he went to an experiment, that not only horrified his psyche but also proved him the existence of a soul and the power of its Creator.

Find more about the destiny of the scientist in the screenplay.

Spiritual Direction.

There are two Spiritual Directions: towards Light and towards Darkness.  Between them is sub-direction: Degradation.

Elina: As If I Wasn't There (2002). Metaphysical Review

Elina: As If I Wasn't There (2002)

Metaphysical review Jacklyn A. Lo for the film Elina: As If I Wasn't There (2002).

Original title: Elina - Som om jag inte fanns.

This is a very exciting film with metaphysical elements where the main character - a little girl confronts an adult authoritarian woman who is fit for her grandmother.

Mature Soul

The protagonist Elina is a school-age girl with a mature soul that has great energetic and spiritual potential.

Following the plot we recognize that Elina has not only Courage but also Compassion (the episode with Finnish-speaking boy Anton).

On top of that in spite of all difficult circumstances, she is a fighter for Justice, her own Human Rights, and the rights of others.

As Courage, Compassion, Justice, and Human Rights are the main intangible Values of Light, Elina is a spiritual being moving toward the direction of Light.

She also has a high sensitivity to reality beyond the physical world which proves her high Spiritual Potential.

Absolute Power

The antagonist of Elina is her teacher Tora Holm, a conservative and authoritarian administrator.

The main value for her is absolute social power based on what she believes in her rightness.

That principle she spread not only over school children but also to Einar Björk, the new teacher, who sees things differently than she does.

Spiritual Direction

From a spiritual point of view, Tora has an above-average energetic potential in her soul (she is an administrator and a teacher).
But, what is her Spiritual Direction?
Through the film, we see that she humiliates the poor and those who have a lower social status (such as Finns).

She is also indifferent to their suffering, for example, she deprives Anton and Elina of dinner.
She clearly enjoys her own social power ( the episode of giving or not giving charitable boots to Elina), ignoring the girl’s positive intentions, etc.

All these actions are signs of the presence of heavy brutal energies in her soul and the movement of her soul toward Darkness.

Elina's and Tora's battle

At first glance, the energy capabilities of these two characters are equal, but it turns out that the girl is still stronger.
In fact, Elina is ready to sacrifice her own life, but not give up the Values of Light¹ that she followed.
Moreover, Elina receives additional strength from the collective will of all the schoolchildren who joined her protest.

Under these circumstances, Tora finally finds herself in a "No Choice" situation and is forced to accept her defeat and subsequent Change.

Some thoughts

It would be useful to add visibility to this change in Tora - for example, she changes her red suit for a less authoritarian dress and, for example, shows her sitting at lunch at the same table with schoolchildren.

Unfortunately, the film ends without showing us the inner transformation of the Tora. That would be the most interesting part.

Will she continue her journey into Darkness, hiding her cruelty like a wolf in sheep's clothing? Or perhaps this unwanted Change gave her a chance to turn to the Light and begin the process of enlightenment? Or maybe she will give up her school career and retire, i.e. will choose the direction of Degradation?

Conclusion

"Elina: As If I Wasn't There( 2002)" by director: Klaus Härö and scriptwriter Kjell Sundstedt is a fascinating film with spiritual elements and highly recommended to watch by the whole family.
